My Bio

I'm a wildlife enthusiast who wishes to spread and share knowledge, usually through situational illustrations, studies portraying wildlife and naturalistic sculptures of animals.

My favourite subjects are small mammals and birds, usually lesser-known species.

My main project is developing and illustrating a story about eurasian stoats.

Thank you for the fav! Where can I find your art?

You are very welcome, and your comment made my day! I love the way you stylize shapes. I found your last piece with the marten very captivating in that regard, in addition to the playful composition, something that captures the essence of mustelids.

I currently only share my work on Instagram (link to account: https://www.instagram.com/hwiksel/ ) -it's an open account so no need to join or follow to view). I ran away from DA after the whole mess with the AI art generator which caused and uproar and most of my mutuals leaving, and put my work in storage in case I ever decide to make a return. I'm generally tired of social media at the moment, often feeling too repulsed and demotivated to share anything I make, but I'm always debating on whether I should keep coming back posting my work here or not. On the positive side, some artists and people I look up to are still here and I really miss the gallery feature and the option to write long descriptions without a word limit.

Thank you again!

 In fact, I almost didn't use references for this drawing and only based on my own impressions of mustelids. So I'm really happy to hear that it worked! Your words motivate me to try this way more.

Thanks for sharing! I remember some of your work, especially the linsang.

Oh, I tried to leave DA many times during last years, but at the end I'm still here because of the lack of alternatives. I really dislike what's happening on DA and everywhere. Besides all these AI related things, I feel a kind of disconnect with the community. I can't answer the question why I continue to share my personal art on social media despite all the demotivation. It's a kind of personal need I think.

Glad my words were inspiring! Knowing that someone misses my work is motivating and means the world to me.

The linsang is one of my favourite sculptures. Those cat-like carnivorans have such a sleek and decorative aesthetic to them which I've come to love. I recently touched her up a little for even better display.

Your personal reasons are respected. What matters to me is that you will continue to explore, and I'm curious to see where you will be taking your skills. Thanks again for reaching out and for being here!

Thanks for the watch! (on my other account also lol)

You're welcome! I'm looking forward to more species-centered art and informative sheets. : )
